You might be noticing an abundance of 1”-2” greenish worms in your yard. You can pour a 5 Gallon bucket of Soapy water in your turf, during late afternoon and see if they come to the surface. They eat late at night and can destroy your grass (they like healthy maintained grass). You can buy Pesticides such as sprayable “Sevin” at Home Depot or local nursery. This Might take several applications. Good idea to speak with neighbors because they will migrate from one yard to the next yard. Spray Pesticide early in the evening and BEST OF LUCK.
